Maykel becomes the cupid behind "Son tus ojos," the new bachata by Yilda Banchón.

Yilda Banchón released "Son tus ojos" ("It's Your Eyes"), a bachata published on Thursday, November 13, built around a specific moment: the beginning of her relationship with musician Elvis Guapulema. The song was part of a creative process Banchón had been developing for two years, which finally took shape with Maykel's participation.

During a recent meeting in Guayaquil, the singer explained how he joined the project and what his role was in the story that inspired the track. "Very happy because we're releasing a new bachata, a new sound. Gilda proposed this song to me, I loved it, and well, we've known each other for many years," he shared.

The connection between both artists stemmed from previous collaborations and shared experiences on television. That's why the invitation to participate in "Son tus ojos" arrived at a time when Maykel was also recalling another episode: he was the one who introduced the couple. "Can you imagine? I'm the cupid of that relationship, the 'Uber of love' who drove them here and there," he said with a laugh.

The singer added an anecdote from that period. "The anecdote is 'perseverance pays off.' I used to tell my friend: 'If you keep pursuing her, you'll win her over.' And he did," he recounted enthusiastically.

Maykel announced that he will continue with performances in cities in the Sierra region, including Tulcán, and does not rule out sharing stages with Banchón when schedules allow. The music video for the single, filmed with an urban aesthetic, is now available on YouTube.
